Decriminalization of abortion in Ecuador
Abstract
The overall objective of the study was to analyze the decriminalization of abortion in Ecuador. This study was based on a quantitative approach that generates descriptive data from the collection of information. It was supported by a rigorous documentary and bibliographic review to contextualize the study. Inductive-deductive and analytical-synthetic methods were used. In addition, the population consisted of 1,930 lawyers in private practice in the city of Santo Domingo, from which a random sample was taken. This constituted a sample of 321 practicing lawyers. It is concluded that the decriminalization of abortion in Ecuador is a necessity defended by the group of women who defend women's rights and is considered a necessity in terms of curbing clandestine abortions and making effective the right of women to decide on their sexual and reproductive health.
