Tomographic correlation of mandibular transverse distance and inclination of lower permanent molars

Keywords: Medical technology; dentistry; measurement. (UNESCO Thesaurus).

Abstract

The present study by means of statistical analysis sought the correlation between the mandibular transversal discrepancy and the inclination of the lower permanent first molars in complete skull tomographies of adults of an Andean population in the year 2021. It was observed that the average mandibular transversal distance obtained was 52.34mm, as for the angulation of the lower permanent first molars for the right side the average value was 102.78°, in comparison, with the left side the average angulation value obtained was 102.57°. The correlation coefficient between the mandibular transversal distance and lower molar angulation was 0.15 and R2= 0.022. Finally, it is possible to conclude that the correlation coefficient and Pearson's R allow establishing a very low positive correlation between the transversal distance of the mandible and the inclination of the lower permanent first molars.
