Abstract

The aim of this article is to analyze the limits of confidentiality in medical practice in cases of gender violence in Ecuador. It was carried out by means of a descriptive methodology in which documentary content analysis was used. The limit of the right to confidentiality is established by the protection of the victim of gender violence and by the ethical and legal commitment of the health professional who provides care to the victim. Likewise, the limit of the aforementioned principle is confirmed in the same law when it states that public officials are not prevented from reporting acts of violence of which they have knowledge.
